Audi is giving its popular SUV, the Q5, a mid-life facelift. The German car manufacturer has made design tweaks to keep the Q5 looking fresh as well as making improvements to the engine range. The new Q5 will be available to buy in showrooms across the UK from September 2012 and orders can be taken from May.On the exterior of the Q5, there have been some mild design tweaks including newly designed daytime running lamp and more angular headlamps. The front grille has been revised as have the bumpers, which now feature integrated air inlets with black gloss inserts and chrome-ringed fog lights.Inside the new Q5 there have been relatively few changes made, but it is now available with a new range of luxurious trim options, SE, S line and S line plus. All trims will feature alloy wheels, leather upholstery, rear parking sensors, electronic climate control, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers and a hill descent assist function. The dashboard has been tweaked slightly to improve ergonomics while the steering has been changed from a hydraulic to an electromechanical unit, which will help to save fuel.

There will be a choice of four engines offered – two petrol and two diesel. Audi expects the 2.0 TDI to be the best-selling engine of the range, and it will deliver 175bhp whilst returning 47.1 miles per gallon fuel economy. The other diesel offering is the 3.0 litre V6 which is an updated version of the existing engine and now developed an extra 59lb/ft of torque making it 428lb/ft. Fuel consumption has also been improved on this engine, increasing from 37.6 to 44.1 mpg. The suspension has also been revised to make the ride a more comfortable one. Drivers preferring petrol engines will be able to choose from a 2.0 litre four cylinder and a 3.0 litre V6, returning 222 and 268bhp respectively. The release of the new model may tempt those who were previously looking for a good quality used Audi Q5 for sale to change their minds and buy a new car instead. The entry price of the Q5 is expected to be approximately £33,400 and orders can be taken from May for delivery in September.
